Career Development

Crew Members

Whether you stay with us as a key member of the team, progress into management or move on to pastures new, you’ll benefit from learning some great transferable skills through our Crew Development Programme (CDP).

The CDP is our training system, consisting of a wide range of informative and easy to use materials. It aims to ensure all Crew Members receive the right knowledge and skills needed to deliver outstanding quality, service and cleanliness. Before coming into contact with any customers, you’ll have experienced a mixture of ‘on the floor’ and ‘off the floor’ training, allowing you to grow in confidence whilst learning the ropes. You’ll have a ‘buddy’ to provide your training during your first few shifts and they will ensure you’re well looked after and introduced to the rest of the team.

But that’s just the beginning of the journey. Training at McDonald’s is an ongoing process. We ensure our people are always improving, growing and developing. Testament to this is the fact that 80% of Managers start as Crew. They’re able to work their way up the ranks and fulfil a successful career thanks to first-rate training, a culture of opportunity and good old-fashioned hard work.

The journey from Crew Member to Manager and beyond:

There’s a very well-trodden career path here. Whether you’re full or part-time, you can join our Shift Manager Programme. Your first steps into management might be as a Crew Trainer or Customer Care Assistant. Your next step is to become a Shift Manager. Whichever route you take, you’ll never be short of support; there are always experienced members of the team to learn from. And when you’ve mastered your art, there really are no limits. After all, over half of our Executive Team started by working in restaurants – and there’s no reason why you can’t progress this far as well.
