Our Roles
Apprentices
Join us as an Apprentice and within 12 months you could gain a qualification worth 5 good GCSEs, awarded by City & Guilds, while working. By deciding to do an Apprenticeship, you will:
- Earn a wage, avoiding student debt
- Gain valuable qualifications that employers want and need
- Gain valuable transferable skills that will enable you to succeed in your chosen career
So if you are keen to enter the world of work but don’t want to stop studying then an Apprenticeship could be the answer. It will enable you to start working, earn a wage, all whilst learning the skills and gaining the qualifications employers want.
McDonald's has a great track record of promoting from within – 80% of our Business Managers started off as crew – and the Apprenticeship formalises the first step of progression and could be the first step in your career at McDonald’s. The next step, level 3, equates to our Basic Shift Management qualification and as a qualified Apprentice you would be in a position to work towards this.
What’s expected of you
As with any job you will have to show enthusiasm, a level of dedication and have a professional attitude. We expect apprentices to complete the apprenticeship in 8 to 12 months, but there is no set time because everyone is different, so how fast it goes depends on you.
You will be working towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in hospitality at Level 2 (GCSE grade A* to C) and Key skills in communication and application of numbers, on the job; and you will also need to be committed to the off the job learning element of your Apprenticeship, maths and English GCSE equivalents, to succeed. We provide, free of charge, an online learning system, supported by trained tutors to help you through this.
