How to Apply
The application process – what to expect
Trainee Business Managers
As a Trainee Business Manager, you’ll be a future leader within our company and the focus of thousands of pounds worth of training. As you can imagine then, winning a place on our Management Development Programme is no small feat or short-term commitment, as it represents a long-term career decision.
We want to be sure that we’re absolutely right for each other, so you’ll go through a four-step selection process. The first stage is the initial screening process; this is to ensure that you meet our basic criteria.
If you meet these, you’ll be asked to complete the next stage, an online personality questionnaire. This will ensure that you have the right attributes and that our environment is suited to your preferred style of working.
Your next step will be the restaurant based ‘On Job Evaluation’ or OJE. Here you’ll do the job for real for a day and discover what’s it really like working in a McDonald’s restaurant.
The final step of the selection process is an interview with an Operations Manager, who’ll review everything you’ve seen and done so far. By this time you’ll have met our people, seen how we do business and even served a few customers!
Crew Members
To make sure we’re right for each other, we’ve designed a two-step application process. The first phase starts right here in the form of an online questionnaire during the application, which will take on average 30 minutes to complete. If successful, you’ll be invited to a restaurant for an On-Job Evaluation (OJE) and interview.
The OJE serves two purposes: making sure we live up to your expectations of a potential employer; giving us the chance to evaluate your customer service skills against what’s needed to be a successful member of the McDonald’s team AND for you to see if the McDonald’s high energy environment suits your preferred style of working. During the process (which only lasts about 15 minutes), you’ll work in one of our customer facing areas and will be given full instruction on what to do. In addition, you’ll have an interview with the Business Manager. The whole process should take about 30 minutes.
